Whilst in a domestic setting, you are able to dispose of your sanitary and nappy waste into the usual rubbish bin (not the recycling bin), in businesses we have a responsibility to manage such waste in a way that is environmentally responsible and compliant with the law.
The Environmental Protection Act 1990 – This legislation encourages employers to take responsibility to safely dispose and store all waste produced on their premises – including nappy waste. To demonstrate you’re following these regulations and protecting the environment, you must also obtain a completed duty of care certificate.
