Clinical Waste Disposal

Clinical waste disposal services, are provided by Sterling Washroom Services for all types of environments.  The term clinical waste can include household infectious waste (for example. the outcome of receiving medical treatment in your home), offensive waste (for example, incontinence pads), sharps (including needles), biohazards waste.

We design our clinical waste collection service around your needs.  So, with this in mind we offer ad hoc collections for your clinical waste disposal, which tie in with our scheduled services.  You only use us when you need a collection from us.  In all cases, we certify the waste has been properly collected and disposed of.  Of course, if you need regular collections, we can schedule this too.

As well collections of sharps boxes and single bags, we offer lockable skips for external storage of your clinical waste disposal, from 240L to 1100L.  Many of our customers ask about colour coding for bags and sharps boxes, so here is a guide:

• Orange lidded sharps boxes   Non-pharmaceutical sharps waste such as tattoo needles, piercing needles, knives.
• Yellow lidded sharps boxes    Medical sharps bins for sharps that could have been contaminated with medical waste such as syringes.
• Blue lidded sharps boxes        For use with other forms of medical waste (not necessarily sharps) such as out-of-date medicines and PPE
• Purple lidded sharps boxes    Cytotoxic and cytostatic waste, such as disposable garments, vials, blister packs and patches.
• Dispose of bins when no more than 3/4 full.

Bag colours:

• Tiger Bag (yellow with a black stripe)    This is for offensive waste – non-hazardous, non-infectious waste such as nappies, incontinence pads, disposable PPE not in contact with infections fluids.
• Orange Clinical bag         For clinical waste disposal of infectious waste, such as disposable PPE used when in contact with an infectious patient.
• Yellow Bag         For highly infectious waste such as PPE, tissues and garments contaminated with infectious fluids .
